“Earth?” She furrowed her eyebrows together. “Never heard of that either…um…ah! Got it!” She exclaimed, pointing at a certain map. “This one, right?”

Dean was even more surprised that even Earth hadn’t been heard of. His eyes lit up a little when she thought she’d found it. He looked at the map she pointed to and nodded. “Yup, that’s Earth alright.”

“Great! I think I could swing this…though it might not be entirely accurate…” She warned. She started scanning over the map for Iowa. “Okay…Um…just let me find a scroll and I can send you on your way…I hope.”

“As long as it’s close enough, that’s fine by me.”

She started rummaging around, looking for something. “I know it’s here somewhere…” She pulled out an old worn out book. Aqua thought it might have belonged to Yen Sid. “I know there’s a portal spell in here somewhere…”

Dean watches as she looks through more books. “Judging from these books, I take it you’re into magic?”

“I specialise in it…but I’m better at combat spells…and combat in general.” She chirped. She’d say she was a Keyblade Master, but she was just going to assume he had no idea what that was.

She grit her teeth and had to remember that punching people through walls was not a good way to deal with personal problems. Even if it made her feel better about everything. “Damn it, Ven!”

She followed him and grabbed him again, much tighter. They were not finished here. “I wasn’t avoiding you. Why the hell would I be? So you’re going to scream at me over bad timing? I was gone because I had to be. I’m sorry I wasn’t around but it wasn’t anything I could help. Now are you going to keep being mad at me like an idiot or can you just accept that I’m really fucking glad you’re back?”

He let her grab his form, feeling the strength of her grip. Sighing, he looked down. He knew that she had reasons to be gone; and he couldn’t blame her for that. He still held a heated hate inside of him, but he loosened up and turned around to her, burying his face into her chest. 

Her scent, her texture; it was something he missed so much. “…I missed you…so much, Aqua…I…missed you, damnit…” Ven hardly ever swore, his eyes beginning to secrete water in the form of tears.

“….I love you, you know…?” He held up his left hand with his engagement ring.

“Idiot…” She mumbled, pressing her lips to the top of his head and holding onto him tightly. “I missed you too…” Aqua shut her eyes, sighing contently. She’d missed this, the way he seemed to fit so perfectly into her embrace, the way his hair tickled her cheeks as she nuzzled it. Everything.

She took his hand and pressed a kiss to his knuckles. “I know, silly. I know.” Her eyes were filling up with tears, but she wiped them away, pulling him close again. He’d been gone so long she just…she needed a moment to fully grasp he was real, he was here, in her arms again.

She nodded, trying to surpress all the worries and concerns that were utterly clouding her mind. “You’d better be.” She whispered, letting go of him again. “Come on, let’s get out of here. And don’t wander off your you’ll never get out.” That was the catch here, she could come and go as she pleased. If fate had allowed it, she would have spent all her time there, waiting. But no one else would ever make it through the castle. Not even Ven.

“Whatever it is that’s hurting you…we’ll fix it, somehow. I promise.”

Aqua had a nasty feeling in the pit of her stomach that his pain was because of what happened to his heart. Technically, if his heart hadn’t been restored, he couldn’t have woken up at all.

‘Maybe it wasn’t restored in full…or worse, what if he’s responsible…’

The keybearer nodded and stretched his arms a bit after he was released from the hug, moving to crack his back as if he’d been laying in the same place for hours upon hours - though, it was a lot longer than that. As she said it was time to go - get you both out of there, that childish grin formed on his pallid visage once again, lips tugging up enough that his teeth shown - the obvious lack of care on them showing though no teeth had, well, rotted out.

“Sweet, lead the way! Can’t wait to get out of here..”

She walked back down the winding hallways, something in her just tugged whenever she had to turn, like something deep inside her knew the way and refused to tell her conscious mind. “You’ve been asleep for a long time…” Aqua said softly. It was true and someone was going to have to tell him what had happened while he’d been out. Though, she’d hoped things would have been a lot less grim when he awoke. She was wrong.

She pulled back after a moment, examining his face. He hadn’t changed at all… “Are you okay? You aren’t hurt are you?” A worried tone seeped into her voice. She couldn’t help it. He didn’t look hurt, but there was something about the look on his face that made her stomach turn.

Aqua looked him over for another moment, then pulled him back into a hug. Yes, her behaviour was a bit erratic. But she hadn’t seen him in years. And the simple fact that he was alive and breathing and standing in front of her was nothing short of a miracle in her eyes.

Ventus couldn’t help but to snort a little at her worry, a grin tugging at the corners of his lips despite the pain that tugged through every little crevice in his being. Of course he was okay; he wasn’t bleeding, bruised, scratched broken, none of that. Nodding his head, he let his grin fall back into that pleased smile that still graced his face.

“Yeah, I’m fine. It just hurts a little here..”

He pulled an arm back and pressed the palm of his hand to his chest, right over the beating of his heart; it felt off to him, as if something - someone was throwing the rhythm that kept him alive off beat, but he didn’t think much of it.

“Well from my perspective, yes.” She said simply. “I hate him. He’s a plague to the world and everyone in it.” They soon came up on a huge castle, each different part of which seemed to be held to the others by nothing more than golden chains.

“This guy must’ve done some really bad stuff.” Dean glanced up at the large castle as they approached. “Wow, interesting castle.”

“He has.” She smiled, walking up the front steps. “Home sweet home.”

“You live in the castle?”

She nodded. “I have for a long time now…”

“Wow, you’ve done well for yourself.”

She laughed and walked into a large library, scanning the shelves for a particular book. “Well it was passed down. I’m the Successor and all that. So, where did you say you were from?”

“Still not bad at all. Well I was currently in Iowa, USA.”

She pulled down a large, and somewhat dusty book, setting it down on the table before flicking through it. “Iowa…never heard of it…” She mumbled, flicking through map after map of different worlds.

Dean folds his arms watching as she looks through different books. “Maybe if I add Earth to the description, it might help.”

She could barely breathe she was so happy. He was awake, he was alright. And really, nothing else mattered. Not even that she had to step foot inside the castle again. She followed the sound but stopped at a corner for a moment. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting, what would he be like after all this time? Did he even realise how long it had been?

Aqua shook her head of the thoughts. None of it mattered. She just had to get Ven out of there. She rounded the corner and found him standing there, smiling and waving like nothing was wrong, like he didn’t have a single care in the world. Like Ven.

She didn’t say anything, but rushed over to him and all but tackled him in a hug. He was real and he was okay…

Deep within the dark reaches of his heart, the darkness lashed out at the hug, digging its tendrils deeper and further out through his heart; contact such as this went without a doubt, unwanted with the sentient being that lurked within the shadows of the boy’s very being. The tendrils caused the boy’s heart to pound and just ache as he was tackled into a hug.

For a moment, he laughed and wrapped his arms around his friend, pressing his face into her shoulder as he breathed in; hugs were missed. It felt like years since Ventus had any sort of human contact, he almost didn’t want to let go but then his heart twisted in the dark sentiments grasp, squeezing and threatening it like it had been doing the entire time he’d been awake - yet worse.

He took in a sharp breath and bit down on one end of the inside of his lip, trying not to screw his face too much up in pain. This was a special moment! The blond couldn’t let something like a little ache ruin it.

Aqua bowed politely. “Hello there, Miss.”

Winry waved. “Hello, you’re Aqua right?”

She nodded, smiling. “That’s me. I’m sorry, I don’t know your name…”

“The name’s Winry.” She smiled

“Pleasure to meet you, Winry. So I gotta ask, how did you know my name?”

“Oh right! I guess it mite sound weird because you didn’t tell me you’re name. I met this girl called Kairi and she said she remembered this one time when she met this girl aqua, and she described her are you look just like her so I guessed it was you.”

Aqua smiled. “So you met Kairi…how is she? I haven’t seen her in so long…”
